Job Requirements/Description

New Vision Bradford is a partnership between the Bridge Project, Project 6 and Waythrough. Under this umbrella, the partnership delivers an adult substance misuse service for the Bradford and Craven District, aiming to help people tackle the misuse of alcohol and drugs and reduce risk taking behaviours through dedicated prevention, intervention, and support.

The Bridge Project is looking to recruit a Group Worker on a full-time permanent basis to deliver groups such as drink down sessions, opiate sessions and preparation for alcohol detox sessions to a wide range of individuals, from entry into treatment to aftercare planning. There will also be an opportunity for the postholder to develop group sessions in response to client/service need, in addition to the established group programme.

This is an exciting role, and we are looking for someone who has a passion for recovery, who is a good listener, empathetic, kind and patient who will demonstrate behaviours consistent with our values. This role will help our service users to regain their confidence to get involved in everyday activities. We welcome individuals who have experience of designing and delivering group work interventions in line with a recognised therapeutic model, although this is not essential.

We are looking for someone who has a relevant professional qualification in Health and Social Care, Social Work degree or 2 years’ full-time or equivalent experience of working with people with alcohol and/or drug problems and/or people with complex and multiple needs within the last 4 years.

You will have an excellent understanding of drug and alcohol issues and a good knowledge of adult and child safeguarding, along with the ability to identify recovery focussed activities and develop links with recovery groups. You will be highly organised with excellent communication skills and able to manage your time effectively, working as part of the team whilst maintaining a highly cooperative approach to supporting colleagues in delivering service objectives.

There is an element of flexibility around working hours required by the postholder. A willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check is also a requirement of the post.

In return, as well as a rewarding career, we can offer a competitive salary, 4% pension contribution, generous annual leave entitlement, employee assistance scheme, life insurance, a monthly team wellbeing session and a programme of mindfulness activities for staff. The Bridge Project is a Mindful Employer.
