Tewkesbury Baptist Church (Independent) is a lively and informal church with a diverse and eclectic congregation seeking to love God and love people. We have an existing team of committed and talented volunteers with strengths in mission, youth work, worship, administration and preaching/teaching. Our town is located in a beautiful part of the countryside, where affluence and deprivation live quite close. We aspire to grow and extend our facilities and deepen our community engagement.

Role Description

• Together with the eldership team to oversee Tewkesbury Baptist Church's mission to love God, love people and to reach out to a world in need with God’s good news.
• To represent Tewkesbury Baptist Church to the wider community, organisations and other churches. 

Key Responsibilities

Detailed below are the areas that are the responsibility of the Church Leader to oversee in conjunction with the Eldership Team and supported by the Wider Leadership Team. It is the Church leader’s responsibility to see that they are performed, either directly, or by delegation as agreed by the Eldership Team. 

Oversight:

• To oversee the church fellowship with care, diligence, and enthusiasm.
• To mentor those entrusted with spiritual leadership roles within the life of the church. To mentor and develop those recognised as having the potential to become spiritual leaders.

Teaching:

• To grow and build-up the Church fellowship, encouraging it into a deeper encounter with God, through Bible based teaching, prayer, and worship.
• To preach and teach at the Sunday services as required.

Care:

• To show love to the wider community and pursue opportunities for sharing the power of God’s ‘good news’.
• To provide pastoral care for the church fellowship.

Development of Church Life:

• To develop areas of Church life in line with the church mission, vision, and values, ensuring they are biblically based and are in step with God’s direction for the Church. Planning & Review:
• To plan and coordinate the main church services in conjunction with other contributors.
• Together with the Elders and wider leadership team, to regularly review the effectiveness of what we do as a church and identify, recommend and introduce new initiatives or changes as appropriate. 

Other:

• To conduct weddings, funerals, and civic duties.
• To undertake other duties that are necessary and reasonable as the Church Leader.
