Newcastle United Foundation is looking to recruit a Project Officer to join our team in our Metrocentre Careers Hub.
Job Summary
To deliver a range of careers and employability interventions to groups of learners aged 11 to 25 using the store holders and retailers to provide real life learning and progression opportunities. The aim of this project is to move participants closer to, or into the jobs market whilst developing employability skills and interpersonal skills.
Engagements will include whole class sessions, 1-2-1 mentoring as well as small group work, engagement with pre-NEET school groups as well as support for mass engagement events such as Jobs Fairs, mock interviews & recruitment events.
You will engage with colleagues across the Foundation to offer activities in the Metro Centre for participants across our portfolio of programmes and participants.
The role requires a passion for delivering innovative careers sessions, programmes and activities whilst using football and the brand of Newcastle United Football Club to engage unemployed young adults.
Duties / Responsibilities
- To deliver careers and employability programmes to groups of learners predominantly aged 11 to 25.
- To plan, deliver and evaluate sessions, workshops and activities from the Community Hub at the Metro Centre.
- Support participants who may face barriers to participation – displaying empathy, trust and rapport through 1:1 support and monthly workshops.
- Ensure an excellent standard of delivery and to lead on all activities, taught sessions and workshops at both practical and theory based activities.
- Ensure registration and monitoring information is collected and data entry completed as required to meet internal and external deadlines.
- Ensure the appropriate supervision and safeguarding of participants, following Foundation policies and procedures.
- Ensure that courses and activities meet the needs of all participants including those with disabilities and those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.
- Supervise participants attending sessions, confirming any behaviour management protocol to be followed.
- Help the Foundation seek feedback from participants.
- Assist participants to improve their emotional capabilities, attitude towards work and understanding of viable career options.
- Live the Foundations values and demonstrate commitment to these in all work undertaken.
- Present a professional image of Newcastle United Foundation at all times, wearing officially branded kit when appropriate.
- Regularly identify and share good news stories with the Communications Manager.
