We are currently recruiting full time, part time and bank Learning Disabilities and Autism Support Workers to support an individual with autism and a learning disability within the Beare Green (Dorking) area.

Role Description

We are committed to Equal opportunities. We currently have a great opportunity for dedicated Autism Support Workers to work with an individual who has a learning disability, autism and mental health support needs. The individual will be living on their own so we are looking for Autism Support Workers who can provide 360 wrap around support that covers all aspects of their life throughout the day and night.

A service dog lives in the property.

To be part of their team, they are looking for the following qualities from a team member:

  • Provide support during the good times and the difficult periods our individual faces in their daily life.
  • Have a good understanding of Autism/ Learning Disabilities/ Mental Health and how this can impact daily living or have experience working within these settings.
  • Full UK driver’s license with access to a car.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with epilepsy or medical training in seizure management.
  • Able to shows patience and sensitivity, particularly during emotional upheavals and anxiety episodes.
  • To encourage and support maintaining meaningful relationships with family and fostering friendships within the community
  • Likes animals
  • Fun loving and energetic, be willing to go on adventures
  • The ability to communicate clearly and simply
  • Willing to encourage, engage in and explore meaningful activities and hobbies
  • The ability to empower and support independence where appropriate
  • Be a positive advocate for them.
  • Be consistent – do what you say you say you will if you can’t explain why.
  • Be prepared to motivate them in a supportive manner
  • Be resilient
  • Have a kind, empathetic personality
  • Work with them to solve issues and overcome day to day tasks
