Chair of Trustees

The Welsh Refugee Coalition is a network of organisations working in Wales with people seeking sanctuary and refugees at all stages of their journey. We work together to speak with one voice on policies and practices affecting people seeking safety in Wales.

Title: Chair of the Welsh Refugee Coalition

Salary: Unremunerated, expenses paid

Hours: 10–15 hours per month

Duration: Initial term of three years

Location: Remote role, based in Wales

Purpose of the Post

The purpose of this role is to stay informed about the Coalition’s work, particularly its agreed policy and advocacy positions, and to support the Coalition Executive Group. The role involves representing and acting as an ambassador for the Coalition with external partners; serving as a media spokesperson; and chairing Quarterly Coalition meetings with key advocacy targets, including Ministers and civil servants.

The ideal candidate will:

• Demonstrate a deep commitment to supporting sanctuary seekers and refugees
• Hold good interpersonal skills, particularly with cross-sector stakeholders
• Be experienced in leading strategic change
• Have the ability to handle difficult conversations, take the lead, and steer the group effectively

Closing day is Tuesday 10 September at 5pm. 

We hope to recruit a new Chair by the end of September 2024.
